The year
PetaBite searches the Logan petabase index, a compressed representation of essentially every public sequencing run ever deposited, for enzymes that break down PET plastic. Where a conventional screen tests a handful of candidates, the index makes it possible to look across the whole archive at once. The season is still running; 66 members make it the second-largest team the chapter has fielded.
